| The purpose of this organization will be to promote among its members and audiences a love of and appreciation for music through the media of choral singing.

The Story |
| The St. John's Mixed Chorus was founded in 1910 in the St. John's Queens Campus. This group was originally two glee clubs that performed jointly for various functions, and later merged in 1975. The Mixed Chorus is currently under the direction of Mr. Richard W. Pretzer and accompanied by Mr. Mark V. Smith. The St. John's Mixed Chorus has performed at such places as St. Patrick's Cathedral, cable televisions shows, The Marriot Marquis, The Waldorf Astoria, The MetLife Building, and on numerous performances on campus and in the community such as Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church and St. Mary's Children's Hospital.

Our Conductor |
| It is with a heavy heart that we of the St. John's Community inform you of the recent passing of our director, Mr. Richard Pretzer. Mr. Richard Pretzer was not only the current director of Choral activities at St. John's University, but he was also conductor at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church in Forest Hills. He was also the founding director of the Queens Orchestral Ensemble of Forest Hills, NY and the Sacred Heart Society. He helds a bachelor's and a masters degree from the Julliard School of Music which included studies in conductind and keyboard. He has performed as conductor and accompanist in the metropolitan NY area. He has performed twice for Pope John Paul II at the Vatican. He was also the Music director, conductor, and arranger for "These Three Tenors." The chorus is currently under the temporary direction of our Accompanist Mark Victor Smith. Our Prayers and love go out to Mr. Pretzer's loved ones at this time. |
Office of Campus Activities |
| The Office of Campus Activities are the faculty members in charge with dealing with all of the organizations on campus, including the Mixed Chorus. It is through these people that all the funding is cleared, space is requested, Supplies are requested, and applications for the performing arts grant are reviewed.
